Month: December 2018

Update

Mondays’ schedules are tentatively released, as with Draft League.

We will be working on Sundays’ schedules next.

Update

The draft has been completed, and the draft division schedule will be released soon.

Women’s division registration is now closed. The list of registered&paid women will be sent to the committee this weekend and we should have the team list next week. A schedule will be released after that.

Tuesday and Wednesday schedules are tentatively complete – captains will be notified this weekend.

Monday schedules are pending release (we are awaiting on confirmation from one team that expressed interest in joining late)

Thursday schedules will be released next week.

Sunday schedules are coming soon – we hope to begin work on them this weekend.

Late Registration

Registration closed officially last night at midnight, but to even out some of the divisions we are going to hold open the following:

Please use this form to register a team at any of the following levels:

Monday nights – room for 1 team at bronze or silver level

Tuesday nights – registration is closed

Wednesday nights – registration is closed

Thursday nights – there is room to register in our women’s division

Sunday nights – we have room for 1 gold team

If you are looking to take up one of these slots please contact us – info@dodgeballwinnipeg.com

We still have room!

Registration closes on Sunday but we still have room on:

Mondays: Bronze or Silver

Sundays: Bronze, Silver, or Gold

Tuesdays: Bronze Silver or Gold

Wednesdays: Bronze (ideally) or Silver

Thursdays: Bronze, Silver, and Mixed Competitive

Confirmation emails

We recently upgraded our hosting package (the amount of people playing dodgeball required us to make some improvements behind the scenes) and for that reason some email confirmations have been sending out again (an unfortunate side effect).

If you got one of these emails and already took care of whatever it asked you to, please ignore it. You should notice improvements to the speed and stability of our website as well.

Thank you!

Space is filling up quick!

We have had a record number of teams register so far given how much time is left in the registration period. For example, over 21 teams have registered for Sunday evenings! Gym space is limited, and while we do attempt to find more when we fill up, we cannot guarantee we will be able to especially given that most community centers will be minimally staffed and scheduling with them will be difficult.

Don’t miss out – sign up now and make sure you get to play on the night you want!

We have more winners!

A big congratulations to the following division winners:

Thursdays:

That’s so Fetch (Women’s)

Heatwave (Men’s Competitive)

Velocity (Mixed Competitive)

Vixen Collective (Mixed Intermediate)

T’aint My Balls (Bronze/Silver)

Mondays:

Cripple Sloths

Make sure to check back when we announce the date of our Fall windup, as that is where winning teams will collect their beer and medals. We hope to see everyone back next season!

Small rules updates for the Winter 2019 season

One of our organizational goals is to align Dodgeball Winnipeg with the rest of the leagues worldwide that play WDBF format. We want to make sure our league is consistent in style with other leagues so Dodgeball as a sport is played the same no matter where you are.

For this reason, we are enacting the following changes for the Winter 2019 season:

  1. A ball will not be considered out of bounds until you can visibly see the floor between the ball and the sideline. This means ball retrievers can no longer grab a ball that is touching the line.
  2. Sudden death loss will be renamed Overtime Loss, and teams will only receive this point if they play a tie-breaker that goes beyond regulation time. For regular league play this means playing a sudden-death tie-breaker. For competitive divisions this means teams will only receive a point if they go into the 4 minute overtime round AFTER they play sudden death at the end of the second half.
  3. We have changed the priorities in our standings so that number of wins will be more important than rounds won when tie breaking.
As it currently stands, the priorities are as follows: Points, Goal Differential, Goals For (in that order)
Starting in winter it will be: Points, Goal Differential, Number of Wins, Goals For (in that order)
  4. Goal differential will be renamed score differential
